Bob Colman
Recently Adele and Bob Colman and their team have managed the sale of my parents' very special home for over 30 years, "Le Var" on the Shipley Plateau in Blackheath. For my father, the potter Peter Rushforth, this property has been home, inspiration, studio, gallery and meeting place for generations of friends and artists, and therefore has held a very special place in our family's affections and history. To be able to hand over such a unique, complex and emotional sale to agents of such experience, discretion and understanding was a monumental relief for our extended family. At every turn they were flexible and accommodating of our particular wishes and circumstances.

Many of our perceived hurdles and stresses for such a sale never came to pass in their capable hands, at every turn the professionalism and courtesy of them and their entire team was to be completely relied upon. I am confident that they delivered way over and above what a normal agents would, such as often attending the property on their own time, making sure the property always presented at its best internally and externally and finding a wonderful caretaker that took so much stress off dealing with the sale in the midst of our busy lives. The generation of interest through the media was also expertly and deftly handled, with the art curator Gavin Wilson commenting to us that there could not have been a better article describing the estate and its significance to my father, one of Australia's master potters. Above all, it was their trustworthiness that was the most appreciated. At all times we knew exactly where we stood.

Through their efforts the R&W team generated a impressive amount of interest in the auction that was conducted on site. We were thrilled to have the auction well exceed our expectations with a result significantly above the reserve, with amazing 86 bids in a nerve wracking 45 minutes.

I would like to congratulate and offer my sincere thanks Adele, Bob and their team on such a stress free campaign and a terrific result. I cannot recommend them highly enough.
